Captain Brijesh Kumar Yadav was Commissioned into the Indian Navy in February 2007, the Officer has demonstrated unwavering dedication and exceptional expertise throughout his distinguished career. Specialising in Training Technology, Meteorology and Oceanography, he has served across a range of training and operational appointments, including as an instructor at INS Chilka and as Meteorological Officer at INS Dega, Headquarters Eastern Naval Command, aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and Naval Headquarters.

During his tenure at Naval Headquarters, he showcased his strategic vision and leadership by leading multiple high-value procurement and indigenisation projects. Working in close coordination with DRDO, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and various development agencies, he played a key role in enhancing indigenous capabilities and supporting the Government of India’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

The officer boasts an impressive academic portfolio that reflects a rare blend of technical acumen and strategic insight. He holds a B.Tech in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, an M.Sc in Applied Meteorology from CUSAT, and an M.Sc in Defence and Strategic Studies from the prestigious Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington. He is also an alumnus of Indian Naval Academy and Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington.

Internationally certified, the officer is a qualified Operational Weather Forecaster accredited by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) through CTI, Pune. He emerged as the course topper in the elite Advanced Oceanography Course at SNOM and earned distinction in the Advanced Military Meteorology and Oceanography Course conducted by Royal Australian Navy (RAN) at HMAS Albatross in Australia—a testament to his global competence and mastery in the domain. His academic and professional achievements have positioned him at the forefront of Meteorology and Oceanography within the Indian Navy, blending scientific excellence with operational relevance.

The officer is married to Cdr Samedha Naik (Retd.), an accomplished educationist with a strong academic and research background. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering from Goa University and an M.Tech in Computer Engineering from DIAT, Pune, graduating with distinction. A passionate researcher, she has published four papers in reputed international journals focusing on underwater sensor networks (USN) and algorithms. She also holds Post Graduate degree MA in Education. The couple is blessed with two lovely children, Shreehan and Shravi, who bring joy and warmth to their lives.

In her own right, the officer’s wife is deeply inclined toward computer programming and remains passionately engaged in research—especially in the field of underwater sensor networks, where her dedicated scholarly work continues to make a significant contribution. Meanwhile, the officer himself enjoys exploring new places and actively pursues sports, with a particular interest in football and table tennis.
